Archery Rangesarchery range ideas for indoors and outdoors

Indoor/outdoor Target range Design.

Other than the distances that can be shot, indoor and outdoor target ranges share much in common....controlled access, safety zones, Shooting Line, Waiting Line, and often a Target Line.

outdoor Field/3D range design.

Originally created to somewhat simulate a bowhunting experience, field and 3D ranges allow the archer to rove through a series of targets set up in a natural setting.  These targets might be a familiar round target, or even foam animal-shaped targets set up at unknown distances to provide a greater challenge.  The ranges can often be built within each other.

Archery Stylesthere's more than  one way to shoot a target!!

Archery styles are created through a combination of equipment and targets, the archer's shooting position, and the layout of the range.

Many of the national archery organizations have multiple archery styles in their clubs and events.

Target Archery

This is the classic form of archery most people are introduced to first.  It often uses basic equipment, targets and rules.

  • Olympic Archery

Part of the Summer Olympics which take place every four years, this event is very rigid in its authorized equipment and rules.

Field Archery

Field archery ranges are set up like roving courses in natural settings and allow for a wide range of equipment and targets.

3-D Archery

Begun as a way to experience some of the skills needed for bowhunting, 3D uses animal-shaped foam targets often set up at unknown distances.
